ABUN – Artists & biologists Unite for Nature – helping to promote public awareness of the plight of these much endangered species through art. It has been a very busy year painting endangered species for the various projects. These are the ones I have taken part in so far this year.
Project 13 Sociedad Antioqueña de Ornitologia (SAO) Bird Calendar/COLOMBIA 2018
SAO is an NGO with 33 years of activities in Colombia, our mission is the study and conservation of birds and their habitats through education, sensibilization and research. We are the oldest ornithological society in Colombia, the country with the highest diversity of birds in the planet. Birds listed in the Red List that are present in the State of Antioquia and whose distribution is mostly restricted to such State.
We have picked 9 species and I will be sending you a selection of pictures from those species taken by SAO members for you to use as inspiration for your amazing paintings. I have chosen 3 of the birds and submitted them for consideration for the calendar. The Thryophilus sernai. the Dendroica cerule and the Diglossa gloriossisima. They are all painted using Pastel Pencil on Pastelmat
