Since posting the the images of Sundar in different media, like many artists, I have constantly returned to the paintings to correct and enhance and feel I have got to know this amazing Lion who has last come to life on the page.
Sundar was photographed in Gir National Park and environs in the Indian state of Gujarat by my very good friend, Dr Chetan Trivedy, Director and Founder of The Tulsi Foundation.
I first painted Sundar in coloured pencil and have since entered this image into Ann Kulberg’s Coloured Pencil competition. However, both the images in pastel and tinted charcoal I have gradually been enhancing and the Tinted Charcoal is now a mixed media painting with the addition of pastel pencil. What a simply amazing trio they make.
